This workshop, promoted by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) and funded by the Auswärtiges Amt (AA - Federal Foreign Office) aims to bring together PhD-candidates from Thessaloniki and Berlin as well as established scholars with the purpose of discussing new research questions, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and establishing collaborative links between the academic communities in Greece and Germany that deal with the region of Southeastern Europe.
One of the core purposes of this workshop is for PhD-candidates to benefit in their doctoral research from the discussion and academic interaction. They are urged to present key aspects of their research project, to pose questions and to indicate methodological or empirical problems which will be commented by an expert and discussed with the other participants.
