Online Encyclopedia on German-Greek Entanglements

The Center for Modern Greece (CeMoG) compiles an Online Encyclopedia on German-Greek Entanglements. Within the framework of its research initiative on the history of German-Greek cultural and scientific relations the CeMoG aims at an intensified dissemination of research findings through the creation of a scholarly publication platform for case study research and working papers on the history of cultural and scientific exchange between the German and Greek spaces from the 18th century to the present day. Readers from all over the world will have open access to peer-reviewed scholarly contributions which focus on the political, economic, scientific and cultural transfer processes between the German and Greek cultural spaces, from the 18th century onwards. The CeMoG-Encyclopedia is conceived as a work-in-progress that may become a reference work for scholars, teachers, students and the general public in their search of reliable information on the protagonists, the fields of action and the modes of mediation, which have enabled a productive exchange between the German and Greek cultures over the last 200 years.

The CeMoG brings together scholars on German-Greek relations in a multilayered online platform which connects general biographic data, information about transfer fields (e.g. politics, science and literature), modes of mediation (e.g. translation, adaptation and instruction) and network (associated participants/fields of action) with relevant bibliographic entries. Being dynamic by nature the Online Encyclopedia on German-Greek Entanglements will present the ongoing scholarly output that builds creatively upon these information mappings. The editorial management and the publishing system of the CeMoG-Encyclopedia are developed, maintained and supported by the Center for Digital Systems (CeDiS) in co-operation with the Center for Modern Greece (CeMoG), the Bavarian State Library in Munich (BSB) and the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute (FMI) within the scope of the DFG-funded project "Open Encyclopedia System (OES)".
